They spent most of their retirement as snowbirds traveling south to Texas and in later years to Arizona. Lois and Rich enjoyed almost 27 years of retired life. And Lois’s five children - Rick Mortimer, Rob Mortimer (Sheila), Randy Mortimer, Ryan Mortimer (Jill) and Lori Downing (Ben). His four children from his first marriage - Debi Friede (Tom), Leslie Damstrom (Jim Ragan), Robert Damstrom (Roxanne) and Kelly Brenden (Dave). In Glasgow Rich was an active member of the Sons of Norway, Elks Lodge, Tuesday bowling league and Scottie Booster Club. Rich and Lois made their home in Glasgow where they resided until March of 2021. On May 1st, 1973, Richard married Lois M. He was extremely proud to be a railroader and union member, serving a couple of terms as representative for the local union. He worked for the Great Northern / Burlington Northern Railroad beginning as a brakeman in Havre, MT, continuing as a brakeman/conductor in Glasgow until his retirement in 1996. At the age of 19 in 1954 he “hired on” with the Great Northern Railroad. He came to NE Montana while working for a land surveying company. He sang in the Men’s Chorus which traveled to competitions as far away as Minnesota. He graduated from high school in three years and attended Texas Lutheran College. As a teenager he worked on farms and in cotton gins in SE Texas. He grew up with his brothers, Walden and Clifford on the family farm just outside of Lyford. and Sarah Damstrom, Richard was born in Lyford, TX. He died peacefully with his loving wife Lois by his side. Richard Franklin Damstrom passed away on Sunday, June 18th at the age of 88. Richard Franklin Damstrom, November 24th 1934 – June 18th 2023 There will be a luncheon at the Glasgow Evangelical Church following the burial. at Glasgow Evangelical Church with Pastor Seth Runner officiating, burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. JoAnn has nine grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.įamily receiving friends will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from 5 – 7:00 p.m. (Patricia) Pliley, Glasgow/Florida and Pamela D. JoAnn is survived by her two children, James E. JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Donald Gene Pliley, her parents James Raymond Campbell and Alice Henrietta Jellum Campbell and her sisters Mary Alice Hickok and Nancy Fox. JoAnn enjoyed being the other half to Don and wherever they went, Don always referred to her as the love of his life. She was an active member of the Glasgow Evangelical Church for many years. JoAnn had many friends in the Glasgow area and loved going for coffee with Don to visit with them all. JoAnn enjoyed her role as a homemaker, cooking, baking, and sewing many wonderful items for her children and grandchildren from cute outfits to table runners and placemats to quillows. They fell in love and married on December 26, 1951.ĭon and JoAnn resided in the Glasgow area where they farmed and raised two children. JoAnn graduated from Glasgow High School where she met Donald Pliley. She moved to Long Beach, California, and then to Glasgow, Montana in 1946. JoAnn was 88 years old, born on April 9, 1935, in Fosston, Minnesota to Alice and James Campbell. JoAnn Helen Pliley, of Glasgow, Montana, passed away at Valley View Nursing Home on June 27, 2023.
